LRHS Band – Community Service Opportunity

The Band has a service opportunity for those students that want to help our community or require volunteer service hours for various clubs.

When: Saturday, December 16th (day after the Symphonic winter concert)

Time: 9:30am to about 1:30pm

Place: The CPO, Catholic Parrish Outreach Program, 2013 Raleigh Blvd., 919-873-0245

What: repacking or stocking food items; or may be helping with our children’s clothing area.

Who: Paula Speranza, LRHS Bands Community Svc Coordinator, paula.speranza@gmail.com

If you have ever volunteered at the NC Food Bank bagging potatoes/sweet potatoes, relabeling canned food, sorting egg or have seen the racks of donated food in the warehouse, now the students will see how all that effort gets passed on directly to those in need in our own community.

The CPO is the largest food pantry in eastern, NC and is celebrating 40 years of serving the triangle community. They provide emergency food assistance and, when possible, small children’s clothing and baby items, such as formula and diapers. CPO does more than just give out food. They also provide a food stamp outreach program, and a resource list of other assistance throughout the community. They are supported by NC Food Band of Central & Eastern North Carolina, United Way of the Greater Triangle and Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

It is a model throughout the state of how to serve the less fortunate in our communities.

Below is the link to the signup genius to volunteer and more instructions.

There is space for 12 student volunteers and 2 adults.

Siblings ages 12 and above can help with a parent.

We will meet at CPO, sign in and will be given instruction of how to do our task
