Conductor of Bands

Leesville Road High School is proud to introduce Mr. Chris Serina as our new director of bands.

Christopher Serina is a native of Tarrytown, NY. He attended Tullahoma High School in Tullahoma, TN, and Ashe County High School, in West Jefferson, NC. Mr. Serina earned his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Appalachian State University in fall of 2006. While at Appalachian, he was recognized as an APPal PIE Scholar, Tom Hanson Memorial Scholar, Franz Merrill Memorial Scholar, and Konen Trumpet Scholar.

He performed in numerous ensembles, including the Appalachian State University Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, ASU Marching Mountaineers, ASU Basketball Band, ASU Brass Ensemble, Trumpet Choir, and other chamber ensembles.

Mr. Serina completed his student teaching at Leesville Rd. High School in Raleigh, NC under the direction of Mr. David S. Albert. Mr. Serina has previously conducted bands in Tennessee and North Carolina before coming to Wake County to direct at Garner Magnet High School in the Summer of 2009. Chris was named the director of bands at Leesville Road High School in June, 2011, concurrent with the retirement of David S. Albert. Chris is currently a member of the North Carolina Music Educator's Association and the North Carolina Bandmasters Association.
