LRHS Band News & Notes, Ep. #33

Good Evening Bands Club Families,

As we welcome in the month of May, we also begin to close out our 2023-24 Bands Club season – and what a year it has been! This past weekend, 6 of our students represented our Bands Club admirably. Congratulations to Quinn, Evan, Ben, Gus, Nick, and Samantha for representing Leesville so well! Coming up we have our Spring concerts. Tonight’s edition of our Band News and Notes has ALL the info you will need for those events. One special part of the Thursday evening concert will be a Student-led project partnering our Bands Club with the nonprofit organization “Note in the Pocket”. As you do your spring cleaning, keep this worthwhile project in mind, and donate gently used clothing in the bins at next week’s concert.

Our BBQ fundraiser is THIS SATURDAY. Read all about it tonight – and it is not too late to get your BBQ plate. There will be walk-up orders available at the BBQ sale so you can still get some delicious food and support our Bands Club programs. Come on out for some great tasting food – and please consider volunteering to help the day run smoothly. We are still in need of student and parent volunteers. Also, after the BBQ, our LRHS Middle School Band will be playing at the Carolina Mudcats Baseball Game. Make a day of it and support our future Bands club students and families. Info for this event is also in tonight’s newsletter.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week and our Bands Club will once again treat all our LRHS teachers to some yummy Hershey Symphony bars as a thank you for all they do for our school. Please sign up to help our Hospitality Committee with this project. The Hospitality Committee is also organizing the receptions for next week’s concerts. Links for those events plus the Teacher Appreciation project are also in tonight’s newsletter.

Of course, we must also begin to prepare for next year’s band season. Colorguard, Battery, and Front Ensemble clinic dates are included in tonight’s newsletter. Also, some preliminary details about next season’s Marching Band camp and competitions are listed so that families can begin to plan for those summer evenings and autumn weekends. The Band Keeps Marching On!

As always, thank you all for taking your time to read our Bands Club newsletter and support our ensembles and directors. Let’s keep going and finish our 2023-2024 Band Season in the Superior style that we have shown all year! Until next week –

Take Care,

-Susan
